Together, including Montreal, these municipalities cover an area of 4,360 km2 and have a population of 3.7 million, almost half of the population of Quebec. They form the 15th largest urban area in North America and the 77th largest in the world. The main cities in the Montreal suburbs are Laval (399,400 inhabitants), Longueuil (232,516 inhabitants) and Terrebonne (101,558 inhabitants).
